1Select a picture

Selecting a picture in XP

Click Start > My Documents > My Pictures and select the photo you want to email. If you want to email more than one photo then hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on each photo.

2Open the Email Wizard

Under 'File and Folder Tasks' (to the left of your listed picture, or pictures) select Email this file or Email the selected items (if you're sending more than one).

The Email Wizard will open in a separate window. Select Make all my pictures smaller, and then click Show more options.

How much you decrease the resolution by depends on what your recipient will want to do with the photo when it reaches its destination. These general rules apply - select 640 x 480 pixels if the photograph will be viewed only on a computer, 800 pixels x 600 pixels if you want your recipient to be able to print 4x6-inch sized photographs or 1024 x 768 pixels for 5x7-inch photographs.

Select the picture size you want and click OK. The pictures you have chosen will be converted to the selected size, but your original photos will not be affected.

6Attach image to an email

Your resized images will automatically be attached to an email, (within your regular email program) that'll open in a new window. All you need to do is add the recipient's email address, a message and click Send.
