British Motor Show 2008: Overview

Ford Fiesta Zetec S

Sporty new Ford Fiesta Zetec S is one of many new cars on show

It’s been two years since the last British International Motor Show - the first at London’s Excel arena in Docklands. The 2006 show was hailed as a success, attracting many of the car industry’s big players, so will 2008 be more of the same?

Well, there are important global launches from Vauxhall, Lotus and Ford, among others, but there are also some big names conspicuous by their absence - most notably Audi, BMW and Volkswagen. Mercedes-Benz is the only major German maker with a presence in London this time around.

Our team of motoring experts was at the show on press day to see exactly what’s on offer - and filed video reports direct from the show floor.

Public days

Of course, the main point of the show is for members of the public to get up close and personal with many different cars, under one roof.

If you’re thinking of going, you’ll need to know that the British International Motor Show is open from 23 July until 3 August. Tickets cost from as little as £5, rising up to £35, for a weekend family pass. You can order these and find out more details at the Motor Show website.
